Fitness Series – Basketball

We had a great time today shooting with Andrew. Andrew is a local basketball star with a very bright future ahead.

From the beginning we wanted to create some portraits that went past the classic mugshot-player card look, yes the one with the classic “cheeese” fake smile. We started with a few images that convey a more static look ,

but standing still did not last too long especially with all the dribbling and dunking required to get the shots we wanted

As usual I always like to find the alternative out of the box situation and I could not let this storage area in a loading dock go unnoticed.

Fitness Series – Boxing

For this first post of the fitness series I had the pleasure to revisit a shot from the 2010 archive. I have always been interested in sport and fitness portrait photography for many different reasons. I love the challenge of capturing the passion that transpires from the subjects along with the definitely more appealing shooting locations when compared to the artificiality, if I am allowed the term, found in a studio settings.

Sometime last year both myself and Jen met with Matt during one of his training sessions. The shoot was divided into two different parts. In the first one we simply followed Matt during some sparring time without any staged shots, just pure strength and stamina.

The second part was less dynamic and was dedicated to a few staged set ups.

Rex

Yesterday our new neighbor “Rex” stopped by for a quick visit. Rex is a young pitbull and contrary to popular belief he is a very affectionate and well mannered puppy. So well mannered that we were able to have him play with myself and Jen with a mini photo shoot.

Hannah

After a few weeks of planning and rescheduling we were finally able to meet with Hannah today and given the result we can definitely say it was worth the wait. The general idea was to shoot a few head shots and 3/4 shots in the studio and then venture in the nearby alley for a few more pictures with an urban feel.

Here is an small example from what we were able to come up with in the studio :

The weather was on our side and spending sometime outside felt great with almost 70 degrees on a November morning. Here are the results :

After the snow

Planning a fall photo shoot after 20 inches of snow felt definitely a little strange. Luckily enough the weather was very warm last week and we were able to have fun with Karen, Rick and their great family today at Moore State Park in paxton, MA.

Please allow us to welcome you to our blog. My name is Francesco, or Franco whatever is easier for you, and with my girlfriend Jen we run a photography business based in Central Massachusetts. I have always been interested in photography since when thanks to my dad I was handed the first camera, yes at the time digital was only a distant dream and believe it or not we had to use that weird looking material called film.

A few years have passed, the technology has changed and in the meantime I moved from the Italian mother land to the US. The passion for photography remained as well as the main goal to produce unique images and develop my skills even further always aiming to my own simple and elegant style. Jen come along a few years ago and beside being a wonderful person and girlfriend she is becoming more and more involved in the business. Her style and her technical knowledge is evolving and I am looking forward to have her on my side in this adventure. She will be also involved in the development of this blog, so feel free to periodically stop by.

After this short but necessary boring introduction we intend this blog to be about images more than anything else. You will soon found posts about recent shoots and location, people we work with and our experience with them.
